Over the last few years, we have worked with local schools and the Birchwood Sports Partnership, teaching handball to students and teachers.

Our aim is for our local schools to be teaching and playing handball as part of their curriculum and we are here to support them achieve this.

Here is a taste of some of the community and school events we have taken part in:

Qualified Coaches from BSHC volunteer their time at the following schools and run free after-school handball sessions on Thursdays.

• Avanti Grange – Coach Karsten
• Boys High (TBSHS) – Coach David
• Herts & Essex – Coach Annica

Herts & Essex High School.

Annica has worked together with H&E since 2018. From informal handball sessions to regular weekly after school training with school teams competing in National School competition.

We train at the sports centre 3.30-5pm on Thursdays throughout the year

The school has seen success at the England Handball National school competition and has brought home many medals and trophies over the years..At the 2025 National Finals held in Nottingham in June, the u13 girls won and finished top in the country. Congratulations!

Bishop’s Stortford High School 

Sessions run on Thursdays from 3.30pm at the school’s sports hall.

School entered two boys teams, u13 and u15 in the England Handball school competiton where their u13 team made the National Finals held in Nottingham in June 2025

Avanti Grange Secondary School

Coach Karsten run weekly sessions on Thursdays after school at their sports hall.

Avanti entererd two u13 teams in the EHA school competition and the u13 boys qualified for the Regional finals in May 2025
